With the recent kick up over visual effects in film and how well effects companies are surviving in Hollywood during the Oscars I thought it would be interesting to take us back to the time of old school visual effects. I’m talking about effects work that relied entirely on practical visual effects through anamatronics and clever make-up.
Take a look at the above video from the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. In the video they talk and show how precise and developed they became when creating stunt doubles for Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Terminator character that moved and resembled Arnie to a every minute detail. It is quite amazing and mind blowing what they came up with. How times have changed now where effects heavy films rely on a lot of computer generated effects to take us to an imaginary world.
Until next time…
